The Original Oyster House seafood restaurant first opened its doors in Gulf Shores in 1983. Our restaurant on the Causeway, overlooking Mobile Bay, opened in 1985. Since then we have proudly served the Gulf Coast the best seafood in a casual atmosphere with genuine southern hospitality. The Original Oyster House on the Causeway in Spanish Fort offers spectacular waterfront views, a private party room and has been celebrated as the area's finest family restaurant for the past 38 years. A top-spot for handshucked and fire-grilled oysters, the Original Oyster House has also become legendary for its homemade gumbo, cheesy grits with blackened shrimp as well as handcrafted desserts including its famous peanut butter chocolate chip pie. Patrons, employees and children are welcomed as family.
